The happiest people sometimes have the saddest stories.

At face value, comedian and actor Terence Creative is a ball of energy whose life looks like a bed of roses.

But a lot of people are unaware of how difficult his climb to the top was.

The now successful entertainer battled with poverty during his formidable years but was always determined to make a name for himself. Indeed one will say impossible is nothing!

On May 5, 2022, the husband and father decided to celebrate his birthday differently.

He reminisced on the past as he took his fans through memory lane.

Armed with photos, Terence remembered the days he scavenged for food in dustbins and lived in a children's home thanks to poverty.

Terence revealed that he was once a street urchin who sneaked into a wedding at Eastleigh to look for food.

He headed straight to the dustbin and was shocked to find out one of his aunts was washing dishes during the event.

"I was about 13, a chokoraa, when I walked into St Teresa’s girls (Eastleigh). They have a hall there. There was a wedding and I just went to the kitchen bin to look for remnants (mabakisho) only to meet one of my aunts doing the dishes," he recalled.

Terence also remembered losing his mother at nine and having to live with his grandmother later in life after battling it out in the harsh streets of Nairobi.

He even dropped out of campus as an adult with the sole purpose of chasing after his dreams of becoming an actor.

The self-made comedian also praised his wife Milly Chebby for throwing his first birthday celebration for him and catering for all costs.

"Never forget where you came from when you get to where you were going," he concluded.
