Former President Mwai Kibaki's Grandson Sean Andrew Removes Finger Ring, Puts it in Grandfather's Grave
Kibaki's final journey A hearse carrying Kibaki’s body travelled by road from Nairobi and was met by huge crowds who paid their last respects. Upon arrival at his hometown, the coffin was transferred to a military gun carriage. The service, attended by thousands of Kenyans led by President Uhuru Kenyatta, was presided over by the military and Catholic church. After the service, a private ceremony was held at his home. Military officers lowered Kibaki’s casket into the ground before the priests threw soil on it. Next came the family, led by his son Jimmy. Next, Kibaki’s children, brother and grandchildren took turns dumping soil on top of his casket.
