The meeting was hosted by President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House Nairobi and besides Museveni, other leaders in attendance included DRC's Felix Tsishekedi, Paul Kagame of Rwanda, Burundi's Evariste Ndayishimiye and Salva Kiir Mayardit of South Sudan.
Tanzania's Samia Suluhu was represented at the meeting by the country's high commissioner to Kenya John Stephen Simbachawene.
Normally, when heads of state and other foreign dignitaries tour the country, they are accorded a high-profile reception which includes security and designation of motor vehicles that they use during their visits.
Museveni's escapades
However, for Museveni, the arrangements were all different as he seemed to have had his own vehicle transported to Nairobi prior to his Monday visit.
Whilst he flew to the country for the conclave, his vehicle seemed to have been shipped ahead of his touchdown.
He checked in at State House Nairobi while aboard his vehicle emblazoned with the Ugandan number plate.
Also during the visit, Museveni maintained his uniqueness in terms of dressing and interaction with his fellow leaders.
While everyone who mattered in the meeting donned suits, the Ugandan president opted for casual gear characterised by a military jacket and hat.
With a facemask on, Museveni also shunned shaking hands with his counterparts in apparent observing of the anti-COVID-19 protocols.
At the meeting, the 77-year-old president called for the concerted efforts toward the realisation of stability in the war-stricken regions in the DRC.
"The problems affecting the region like the crisis in Congo need a collective approach from all regional members of the East African Community. We must insist on working together because these people have suffered a lot," he said.
