IEBC Gazettes UDA MP Beatrice Kemei, 2 Others as Duly Elected in August 9 Polls

- Kericho incoming Woman Representative Beatrice Kemei has officially been elected to represent the county in the National Assembly on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket.
Kemei is among three politicians whose names were gazetted as duly elected ahead of the upcoming August 9 general elections by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
The others are Julius Kimutai representing Ravine Ward as a Member of the County Assembly (MCA) on UDA ticket and Sabena upcoming MCA Issa Aden (National Agenda Party).
The three were declared duly elected after they lacked opponents in their respective races since being nominated to fly the party's flag.

TWITTERKemei will succeed Koskey Florence Chepngetich who has been serving as the county's member of parliament since she was elected in 2017.The politician, who is popularly referred to as Chebabai (The happy one) defeated five other opponents who were seeking to clinch the UDA party nominations in April. She garnered 87,182 votes.
This is Kemei's second attempt at elective politics after launching her political career in 2017 when she lost the Woman representative seat to Koskey. She vied under the Party of Democracy and Reform (PDR).
“I kept in touch with the electorate and whenever called upon, I would engage in various socio-economic activities,” she revealed in a past interview.
She capitalised on her past track record as the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy (REREC) director - a position she landed in 2019.
“For instance, in Kapcheplangat village in Kipkelion East constituency, I initiated electricity connectivity to over 1,000 families. Other areas are Bureti, Soin/Sigowet, Belgut, and Kipkelion West,” she added.
In 2017, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwah was elected into the August House unopposed when he vied on the Jubilee Party ticket.
This time however, the vocal lawmaker and Deputy President William Ruto's ally will face nine other candidates in the forthcoming polls.
