Kakamega County Angry voters stone vehicle suspected of having marked ballot papers

Today, Monday, August 29, voters from Kakamega and Mombasa counties are electing their governors. The exercise had been postponed twice by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) over errors on the ballot papers.

 Other areas where elections are ongoing include Kitui Rural, Kacheliba, Pokot South and Rongai constituencies where voters are electing their members of parliament. In Nyaki West and Kwa Njenga devolved units, the electorates are electing their ward representatives. 


 Hassan Omar Accuses Azimio Agents of Voter Bribery Mombasa gubernatorial seat United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Hassan Omar has alleged voter bribery by Azimio leaders in the ongoing mini-poll. Speaking after casting his vote on Monday, August 29, at Makadara grounds in Mvita the politician called the police officer to act with immediate effect.

 “It is time to live by the rules of democracy if police officers are not ready to impose it then we will do it on our own,” he said.

Kakamega voters at Bukhungu polling station confronted unknown people in a black vehicle on suspicion of having marked ballot papers for the ongoing gubernatorial election.

The angry electorates stoned the vehicle, smashing its windows.

The occupants of the vehicle escaped.
