Kiptoo Collins, Gambler from Nandi Hills Losses Ksh 1.2 M out of the Ksh 1.5 M he had Won on Betika.

Collins Kiptoo, a resident of Nandi Hills, made headlines on March 27, 2024, after he stormed the offices of Betika in Westlands. The reason for his outburst was the alleged loss of Ksh 1.2 million out of the Ksh 1.5 million he had won on betting with the company.

The incident began on March 13th when Collins placed a bet on Betika Aviator and emerged victorious, winning over Ksh 1.5 million. The money was promptly deposited into his account in the early hours of March 14th. However, when he attempted to place another bet just ten minutes later, he was informed that he would have to wait for 24 hours before doing so.

During this waiting period, Collins withdrew Ksh 300,000 from his account, the maximum amount allowed by Betika. He checked his account balance at 7:29 PM on March 14th and found it to be intact. However, when he checked again after the 24-hour waiting period had elapsed, he discovered that his account was empty.

Upon contacting Betika's customer care, Collins was informed that he had lost the money due to auto bets being placed on his behalf. Despite his protests that he had not authorized any further bets after the initial win, the company's staff maintained that the loss was legitimate.

In response to this situation, Collins took matters into his own hands and physically confronted Betika's offices in Westlands. He is adamant in his belief that he did not stake any additional bets after the Ksh 1.5 million was deposited into his account and is demanding answers as to who withdrew his money without his consent.

This incident raises important questions about the accountability and transparency of online betting platforms such as Betika. It also highlights the potential risks and pitfalls that individuals may face when engaging in online gambling. As this case unfolds, it serves as a reminder of the need for stringent regulations and safeguards to protect consumers in the rapidly growing online betting industry.
