Kericho County Gurbernatorial UDA nominee Dr.Erick Mutai today between mid-morning and noon hours, has once again dispensed his great wisdom and undisputed oratory skills in a show at Citizen TV while being interviewed by Journalist Rashid Abdalla and Hassan Mugambi together with his counter part from Kilifi County Hon.George Githi from Pamoja Africa Alliance (PAA).

As the show started, in his own words Dr.Mutai excitedly  prompted Rashid Abdala to use English language citing that his Kiswahili wasn't good. "Kwanza kabisa nataka niombe ruhusa Kiswahili yangu sio mzuru sana" He said.

The Former lecturer at Embu University Dr.Mutai who was looking sharp and smart having put on a blue suit, yellowish shirt with a grey blue striped necktie and with his full confidence, said that he started his political journey way back two years before the year 2022.

In a bright glowing smiling face while reminiscing where the journey started, Dr.Mutai said and here we quote: "We thought as professionals and  as friends of people of goodwill that, it's time we make devolution work for our people and that's where the journey really begun" end of quote.

The vibrant and eloquent leader recalled having an estimate of 10 functions every day across Kericho county during the inception of his long political journey before 2022. However, he said it wasn't an easy start since everything revolved around the use of money though his focus made him attend all the functions and used the opportunity to address what he wanted to do to the people of Kericho.

Without hesitation, Dr.Mutai affirmed his appreciations to the people of Kericho having elected him; " I want to thank the people of Kericho because they heard us strongly, they believed in the equilizer that we can have a county that can equalize everyone and indeed there's God in heaven." He said.

Deeply rooted to his plans and vision, after being asked in the interview why he vied for the gubernatorial seat, Dr.Mutai said that he believes that the county hasn't achieved its best despite being the richest green county. He also puts and said that he has been a keen follower of devolution practices across the country.

Dr.Mutai says that at the present moment Kericho County should not be importing Milk from Bomet county. He said that the Kericho county has the potential of investing in the agricultural sector citing that the county can produce tea, milk, coffee and potatoes among other produce.

While giving an example at the expense of scrutinizing the track record for the county, Dr.Mutai said that Makueni County in the leadership of Governor Kivuta Kibwana was performing well despite being a desert county. He said the county leadership in Makueni had turned around and through value addition in agricultural sector, mangoes harvesting is high.

Further, Dr.Mutai who's an harden believer of the bottom up economic model, he says that having been brought up in a rural village called Rungut in Bureti Sub-County, Kericho County, he will work to see that there is no more people who will have to go to bed on empty stomachs, children missing school and even orphans missing clothes to put on. His vision is about having an economical county that will favour the vulnerables, people at the middle and even the rich.

Journalist Rashid Abdala asking Dr.Mutai how he felt upon seeing the residents of Kericho county in Litein town who raised him money to finance his campaigns and in his response Dr.Mutai said that indeed the people at the bottom deserves to be uplifted too. He stated that he will implement county revolving funds where hustlers will be able to borrow money having subsidized interest of about 4%.

Moreover, in his bigger strategic plans with in his administration upon being sworn in as the governor of Kericho County, he affirmed that within 360days in office, Kericho County will have a milk processing industry. An increase in Budget, 20-30% will go to agriculture from the initial 5% in the Ksh 8B annual financial budget.
